File Transfer Protocol: Transferring files from your computer to the server, and back again.

In your FTP client, log in to your using using the following:

Host (or server): Your website url (without "http://www")
User: Your username
Password: Your password

When you log in as above, you are connected to your website's main folder. This is where the first page your visitors see will be.

If you should forget your ftp password, you may call us at (707) 425-7100 to have it reset.

How do I transfer files using FTP?

First, log in to your site using your FTP program.

You can upload files anywhere in your website's main folder, and you can create directories within it to store files, but you should not delete, move or rename any files in your home directory that already existed there when you first logged in. These files contain important configuration settings for your hosting account, and you may render your account inoperable if you touch any of these pre-existing files.

Are there any special considerations if I use a firewall or router?

You may need to enable "passive mode" in your FTP program if you are behind a firewall or router. Look in your FTP program's settings or preferences for "passive FTP" or "PASV."

E-Mail FAQs

Is E-Mail Secure?

Information in E-Mail is sent through many servers on the internet from your computer to its final destination. Do not ever include any personal information such as social security numbers, credit or bank account numbers, or sensitive data. There are, however, ways of using email encryption such as PGP/GnuPG.

Is E-Mail really from the person they're claiming to be?

Today, there are thousands of people who fall victim to identity theft from emails asking them to verify their personal information. These emails can ask for information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, answers to secret questions you have made for the security of an online account or any other sensitive data. Occasionally, there may also be attachments that you are asked to download and open. If you ever receive an E-Mail that looks suspicious, delete it immediately. Only open E-Mails from people you know and trust.

What is the largest attachment I can send?

Most email systems are built to handle attachments of up to about 10MB. Do not attach and E-Mail large photos or other large documents. Even if your email goes through, the recipient may not be able to receive your large email because it may be above their inbox's allowed size.

Are links in E-Mails safe?

E-Mails can be programmed to show legitimate-looking links that will actually take you to a fake website to obtain your personal information (also known as "phishing sites.") At Interactive Systems, we recommend you do not click on any links in E-Mails from people you don't know.

Why should I get Wireless Internet?

Many individuals and businesses cannot get high speed connections to the Internet, whether via DSL or cable modem, due to the geographical constraints of these services. Wireless Internet is a fast, reliable, and cost-effective means to access the Internet.

How fast is Wireless Internet?

Our customers get Internet access at speeds on average at least 10 times faster than today's dialup 56k modems. See the pricing chart for specifics.

What equipment will I need?

You will need an antenna with line of sight to our Internet access point and some cable from the antenna to your computer(s). Your computer will need an Ethernet card, and a firewall is recommended.

Is it secure?

We use the latest encryption technology and leading-edge equipment and keep our equipment current to the leading standards.

Do I need a phone line?

No. Wireless Internet does not use phone lines.

How many computers can share this service?

Our multi-use plans allow simultaneous Internet access by all computers in a network.

Do you provide customer support?

Yes. You can call our customer service line and speak to a live technician during standard business hours Monday through Friday. Our Voicemail and paging system is available 24/7.

What are some other features of your service?

Unlimited Access!

No busy signals!

Full email service included!
